John Whelan
Senior Officer, Investments
John is a Senior Officer on the Investments team focused on deal origination and execution across Calvert Impact's climate strategies.
Before joining Calvert Impact:
John worked at FMO, the Dutch development bank, as an Investment Officer within the Private Equity team investing across emerging markets globally. At FMO, John originated and executed direct equity, fund, and co-investments in energy generation, energy transition technologies, and sustainable infrastructure. Prior to FMO, John provided advisory services to first-time renewable energy project developers across sub-Saharan Africa in preparation for institutional capital raises. John began his career working in early-stage startups and is excited to help create ambitious new climate finance solutions to help build a stronger American economy.
John holds an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College and a B.A. in History and English from Tufts University. He lives in Rhode Island with his wife and two young daughters.
