Catalytic Women: Connecting for Impact in San Francisco
July 11, 2013
Back in June, I made my first ever trip to San Francisco to speak on a panel entitled “Young Women Funding Social Impact.” The event was hosted by the dynamic Melanie Hamburger and her team at Catalytic Women, a unique, women-only forum that offers online and in-person opportunities to women who want to leverage their resources for social impact.
Catalytic Women and Calvert Foundation share similar goals: to make donating and investing for social impact accessible to all. At Calvert Foundation, we accomplish this through our Community Investment Note, a retail investment product available online for as little as $20. At Catalytic Women, membership is open to all women, regardless of how much you give or what causes you support. Their goal is to make effective philanthropy easy and accessible—by learning from experts, sharing best practices, and finding the most useful resources.
The event was fantastic and reflective of the city of San Francisco itself – diverse, open and creative. I learned a great deal from the participants and my fellow panelists, Erin Geiger, formerly of Kiva and currently Chief Development Officer at the Family Independence Initiative and Lana Voltsun, Executive Director of the One Percent Foundation. Learn more about their work and read a great recap of the event posted by Melanie on the Catalytic Women blog.
