Fueling the Growth of Latina Women Entrepreneurs

As a part of our Raíces Initiative, we are excited to announce a $6 million loan to Grameen America, a leading microfinance organization that empowers low-income women entrepreneurs across the United States. Founded by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, the organization provides access to capital, credit- and asset-building services through a group lending model to help women build small businesses, establish financial identity, boost their household income and create jobs in their communities.

Since 2008, Grameen America has invested over $380 million in more than 64,000 women-owned businesses across 11 U.S. cities including New York, Los Angeles, Austin and San Juan, Puerto Rico. This $6 million loan will help fuel Grameen America’s microloan portfolio, deepening and scaling the organization’s impact by expanding financial inclusion for women entrepreneurs.

Raíces, which means “roots” in Spanish, enables investors to create economic growth and opportunity in Latino communities throughout the U.S. and Latin America. Grameen America predominantly serves Latina women entrepreneurs across the US and Puerto Rico. With an investment in Raíces, you can help fuel the growth of groundbreaking organizations like Grameen America.
