Calvert Impact, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Calvert Impact”), is sole member of Climate United. The successful candidate will be employed by Calvert Impact or one of its subsidiaries.

Job Description:

Climate United is seeking several experienced credit professionals as Senior Investment Officers to help launch our distributed generation and storage, building decarbonization and electric vehicle portfolios. These individuals will be early members of the Investments team and play a key role in the development and the execution of Climate United’s portfolio strategy. They will work collaboratively with other members of the Climate United team to develop, structure, underwrite, originate, and monitor a wide range of financing relationships to accelerate capital availability for greenhouse gas reduction in underserved markets.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategy Development: Help research and develop Climate United’s sectoral (DG, Building Decarbonization, EV) target markets and asset deployment strategies;

  • Investment Sourcing and Diligence: Source potential investment opportunities and conduct robust due diligence on transaction partners and projects in accordance with our program objectives, investment strategy, and compliance requirements;

  • Modeling and Risk Evaluation: Develop and evaluate financial models to analyze various scenarios to understand and appropriately mitigate risk;

  • Investment Execution: Support the deployment of capital in coordination with legal, accounting, asset management, compliance, community and IMM teams during transaction execution;

  • Relationship Management: Support with ongoing relationship management for our borrowers, investees, and other counterparties, prioritizing clear and responsive communications;

  • Internal Operations: Help create investment policies and guidelines suitable for each market segment;

  • Industry Knowledge: Remain informed on industry and sectoral trends and sector credit risk trends relevant to portfolio transactions;

  • Ongoing Deal Management: Support the asset management team with actively monitored and/or classified assets, and re-structure troubled loans and implement work-outs as needed;

  • External Communications: Advance Climate United’s industry presence through network building, representation at industry conferences, and online and social media communications;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate brings:

  • A demonstrated commitment to inclusive greenhouse gas reduction and an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to their work;

  • 5+ years of experience in renewable energy debt financing, structured finance and/or project finance;

  • Excellent project management and relationship management skills;

  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills;

  • Excited by the challenges of launching an institutional scale financial intermediary;

  • Collaborative and sharing nature, can-do attitude, flexible, comfortable with ambiguity and multi-tasking.

  • Solutions orientation and good sense of humor;

  • Ability to travel as necessary.
