Calvert Impact, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Calvert Impact”), is sole member of Climate United. The successful candidate will be employed by Calvert Impact or one of its subsidiaries.

Job Description:

Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Climate United”), is seeking a full-time senior accounting and reporting manager to lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive federal grant accounting and financial management program. The role will be mission critical to ensuring that money from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund’s National Clean Investment Fund (“NCIF”) is deployed in a manner that meets programmatic and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Grant Management: Lead the accounting and reporting team for Climate United Fund’s federal grant from the EPA, ensuring adherence to grant requirements, regulations, and reporting deadlines;
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal stakeholders, board of directors, and government agencies, highlighting grant expenditures, budget variances, and financial performance;
• Compliance Monitoring: Liaise with the Compliance Department to develop and implement robust systems and processes to monitor compliance with grant regulations, organizational policies, and accounting standards;
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with program managers and implementation partners to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans aligned with grant objectives and organizational priorities and EPA reporting;
• Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard grant funds, mitigate financial risks, and prevent fraud or misuse;
• Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies during audits and reviews, providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed, including A133 audits of Implementation partners and CUF;
• Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for grant-related inquiries from government agencies, donors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and transparency;
• Collaboration: Work across Climate United partners to develop processes to aggregate accounting, budget, and other financial data for reporting and compliance under the grant;
• Team Leadership: Supervise a team of accounting and reporting professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and performance.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred
• Proven experience managing federal grant programs in a nonprofit or governmental setting, including grant accounting, reporting, and compliance
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), grant regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance), and nonprofit financial management best practices.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with grant management systems is a plus
• Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams, fostering collaboration, and driving results in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences clearly and persuasively
