Climate United will use funding from the EPA under the Inflation Reduction Act to rapidly deploy low- and zero-emission products, technologies, and services to all American communities in order to (1) reduce GHG emissions and other forms of air pollutants; (2) bring direct benefits to American communities in the form of energy security, energy savings, cleaner air, and quality jobs; and (3) transform the capital markets so they can drive an equitable clean energy transition at scale. Calvert Impact, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Calvert Impact”), is sole member of Climate United. The successful candidate will be employed by Calvert Impact or one of its subsidiaries.

Job Description:

Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Climate United”), is seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of People to join our leadership team and lead all aspects of human resources, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and overall HR strategy. This role is crucial in supporting our organization and ensuring we attract, develop, and retain top talent to drive our impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition: Develop and implement comprehensive recruiting strategies to attract diverse and qualified candidates for various roles within the organization, leveraging both traditional and innovative recruitment channels;

  • Hiring Process: Oversee the end-to-end hiring process, including job posting, resume screening, interviewing, reference checks, and offer negotiations, ensuring a positive candidate experience and timely hiring decisions;

  • Onboarding and Orientation: Design and execute effective onboarding programs to welcome and integrate new employees into the organization, providing necessary training, resources, and support to facilitate a smooth transition;

  • HR Operations: Lead HR operations in coordination with Calvert Impact’s Chief of Staff and its outsourced HR and benefits provider;

  • Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management systems and processes to support employee development, goal setting, feedback, and performance evaluations;

  • Employee Engagement: Drive initiatives to foster a positive work environment, promote employee engagement, and enhance organizational culture;

  • Leadership Development: Partner with senior leadership to identify talent development needs and opportunities, design leadership development programs, and provide coaching and support to managers and leaders;

  • HR Strategy: Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the organization's mission, values, and strategic objectives, driving continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness;

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with our Climate United partners, ensuring alignment of HR practices and policies with partnership goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; Master's degree or HR certification preferred;

  • Proven experience in HR leadership roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector, with demonstrated expertise in recruiting, employee relations, performance management, and HR strategy;

  • Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to ensure compliance and mitigate risk;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences;

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align HR initiatives with organizational goals and drive results in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment;

  • Collaborative leadership style with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement;

  • Passionate about the mission and work of Climate United, Calvert Impact, and our commitment to an equitable energy transition.
